Robert Louis Brandon Edwards

Robert Louis Brandon Edwards is an architectural designer, historian, and preservationist, and a doctoral candidate in Preservation at the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation at Columbia University. He holds a Bachelor of Architectural Studies with a focus in Preservation from the State University of New York and a Master of Architectural History with a Certificate in Preservation from the University of Virginia.

Robert is a member of the Society of Architectural Historians and the Society of Automotive Historians. His work spans archival and scholarly research, data analysis, teaching, consulting, and hands-on preservation, with a focus on design, cultural heritage, memorialization, and African American history in the built environment. He has contributed to internationally recognized preservation projects, peer-reviewed publications, exhibitions, and presentations.

The inception of the National Museum of the Great Migration is a product of Robert’s doctoral work which redefines architectural space by preserving the experiences of African Americans who traveled by Greyhound bus during the Great Migration, through archival research and the restoration of a 1947 Greyhound bus designed by Raymond Loewy.
